GiveMatch Charity Invoicing

At GiveMatch, we ensure that the invoicing process for match funding is clear and transparent for all the charities we work with. Below is an overview of how invoicing is handled for both the initial match pot and any top-ups.
Initial Match Pot
Percentage Charged of Match Funding Raised
When a charity raises funds through GiveMatch, a percentage fee is charged based on the match grant total, on a monthly basis. There is no platform fee; therefore, if you do not use any match funding, you will not be charged.
Notification of Funds Raised
Our Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) partner emails charities on a monthly basis outlining the total donations raised and total match funding granted. The charge is applied only to the match funding - so the invoice from GiveMatch will be a percentage of this.
Monthly Invoice Raised
Once the charity is informed by our DAF partner about the donations raised and match funding grant, GiveMatch will issue an invoice from accounts@givetree.com. The invoice will reflect a percentage fee based on the match funding grant awarded.
To comply with HMRC regulations, we are required to charge VAT at the standard rate of 20% for GiveMatch services. VAT exemptions apply only to specific goods and services as outlined by HMRC, and unfortunately, the services we provide do not fall under these exemptions. You can refer to HMRC's guidance on VAT for charities here: HMRC VAT Guidance for Charities.
As the supplier, it is our responsibility to ensure VAT is charged correctly. We understand that VAT can be an additional cost, but charities are typically able to reclaim it through HMRC. If you need assistance or would like us to discuss this with your accountant or finance team, please get in touch with accounts@givetree.com.
If there is no match funding grant, there will be no monthly invoice.
Match Pot Top-Ups
For any additional match pot top-ups, a percentage fee will be charged upfront. Find our more about how to increase your match pot, and the invoicing process in our related article.
